An abbreviated signature can contain few movements to compare. The first question is how much information it carries.
Handwriting and graphology
Start with known examples made for a similar purpose. A person may initial each contract page and sign in full at the end. These two forms serve different uses even for one writer.
If a scan shows only a brief angular stroke, record which features can be compared and which are missing. Multiple copies of that same stroke add no independent examples of a writing habit.
Graphology associates handwriting with personality. Each proposed link needs an independent test of its predictive value.
