Forensic methods
File conversion, compression or an agreed signature-insertion process can change the appearance of the local background. The same boundary may warrant investigating whether an image from elsewhere was inserted. A screenshot alone cannot distinguish these possibilities.
Keep the file as received and the message it arrived in. If the original PDF is available, supply it alongside the screenshot and identify the background area of interest. Record which file was used for each examination.
