These are distinct possible ways a signature might be produced.
Forensic methods
In a freehand simulation someone attempts to reproduce the appearance of a model signature. Tracing follows the model’s outline. An uneven stroke or a pause can also occur in a naturally written signature. No single such feature identifies the production method.
If a short signature on a receipt appears hesitant, obtain signatures of known origin made in comparable circumstances. Consider the writer’s ordinary range of variation and record whether only a photograph of the receipt was available.
