Legal document examination / Forensic handwriting and documents in legal disputes
Imagine an exclusivity clause on page three of one party’s copy that is absent from the other copy. Preserve both sets in full and in their original order. Record whether each came as a single file or was assembled from separate scans, who supplied it and when.
On paper originals an examiner may compare the paper, punch holes and fastening marks with adjacent pages. Scans may obscure these features. A layout difference can also result from reprinting. To trace which wording was before the parties at signing, examine the attachment sent at the time as well.
