An inconclusive examination

An examiner may be unable to reach a conclusion about the writer.

Forensic methods

There may be too little material, the reproduction may be inadequate, or similarities and differences may remain unresolved. State what is missing and which question remains open. An inconclusive outcome is not a numerical probability of fifty percent.

For a brief signature compared only with a long passage of text, request signatures of known origin. Describe the limits of the available comparison without deciding the authenticity of the document.

Tzion Bahalul, attorney and notary
