Under the Israeli Inheritance Registrar’s guidance, when the original will is unavailable an application to prove the will by copy is required. Record who provided the file, when it was scanned if known, where the original was sought and who last saw it. Keep the message carrying the file and the file as received.
If a clause is cropped or copies differ, identify the page and exact words. A clearer copy or a witness who saw the original may help clarify the discrepancy. Image comparison cannot recover information never captured or establish why the original is missing.
