An emailed contract says payment is due in 30 days. A later scan says 60. Locate the clause by its heading and surrounding words. Keep both complete files and note the page in each where the difference appears.
Before attributing an alteration to anyone, check whether either file is a draft or a later amendment. The comparison establishes a difference in wording. The source files and the correspondence accompanying each version may be needed to investigate when it arose.
